My name is Justin Wilson, and I’m the owner of J. Wilson Masonry. We’re a small, family-owned
company based out of Gray, Maine, serving homeowners across Southern Maine and surrounding areas.
I started in this trade the same way many old-school masons did—on the ground, as a tender. From
there I worked my way up to apprentice, then full-time bricklayer, learning the craft hands-on from the
ground up. Over the next 13+ years, I expanded into estimating and project management with one of
the largest masonry contractors in Maine. Eventually, I took that experience and built J. Wilson
Masonry with the help of my family—something we’ve proudly grown for over a decade.
Over the years, we’ve completed all types of masonry—patios, walkways, steps, and hardscape
projects. But through that work, we kept seeing the same issue over and over again: failing fieldstone
foundations and deteriorating chimneys that homeowners didn’t realize needed attention—until it was
too late.
Stone foundations in Maine homes require maintenance. Mortar joints break down, stones loosen, and
water intrusion begins. What starts as a small issue can quickly turn into a much larger and more
expensive problem.
We now specialize in fieldstone foundation repair and historical masonry restoration.
Our work focuses on preserving and restoring older homes, including fieldstone foundation stabilization, repointing, brick repair above grade, chimney repair, and moisture intrusion solutions.
We believe in educating homeowners first. Many problems start small—mortar deterioration, small voids, or minor water seepage. Addressing them early can prevent major structural issues and save significant costs.
Specialized in fieldstone foundations, family-owned, hands-on experience, honest evaluations, and long-term solutions.
Not every masonry issue is urgent—but many are. The sooner you address them, the better the outcome. Experience makes the difference.
